Pedigrees
Video walkthrough: Watch on Loom (link coming soon)
Pedigrees is your standalone workspace for exploring and managing lineage — going back multiple generations for any dog in or connected to your program. You can build out pedigrees for your own dogs, add external ancestors from other programs, and share a public pedigree link with buyers.
What You Can Do Here
- View an interactive pedigree tree for any dog, going back up to 8 generations
- Add external dogs (dogs not in your program) to fill out ancestral records
- Navigate the pedigree graphically — expand, collapse, and zoom
- Manage pedigree ownership invites from other breeders
- Share a public pedigree link with buyers, vets, or co-owners
- Access pedigrees directly from an individual dog’s profile as well
How It Works
Viewing a Pedigree
- Go to Pedigrees in the left menu.
- Search for a dog by name to load their pedigree.
- The pedigree displays as an interactive tree — click any ancestor to expand their lineage.
Adding External Dogs
If a sire, dam, or ancestor is not in your BreederBuddy account (e.g., a dog from another breeder), you can create an external profile for them:- From the pedigree tree, click the empty slot for the missing parent.
- Choose to add an external profile.
- Enter the dog’s name, registration number, breed, and any other known details.
- The profile links into the pedigree without cluttering your main dog list.
Sharing a Pedigree
You can generate a public share link that lets anyone view a dog’s pedigree. Choose what information to include: profile details, gallery, health records, or genetics.- Open the dog’s profile or pedigree.
- Click Share and select the sharing scope.
- Copy the link and send it to the buyer or post it publicly.
